Unless you’ve been living under a rock with, like, really bad WiFi, you’ve probably found yourself lusting after a pair of sneakers with Travis Scott’s fingerprints on ’em. Over the last few years, the musician turned reluctant “branding” maestro has been responsible for some of the most widely coveted shoes on the market, and that’s not by mistakethe man manipulates hype with the seasoned dexterity of a hotshot broker exploiting a nanosecond-long glitch in the trading algorithm. Adidas Forum 84 Hi Shoes
BEST OVERALL
You cant help but hear Outkasts So, Fresh, So Clean when you eyeball these sneakers. Released into the world in September 2021, theyre looking tight, fresh, and yes, so clean. Inspired by the great b-ball shoes of the 80s, theyre even finished off with the Velcro tabs that make the unmistakable noise when you pull them. On the one hand, theyre so OG, and yet theyve got modern touches and construction, all wrapped up in premium leather. Even if the closest youve come to a court is a seat in the stands, these kicks give you MVP status whenever you wear them.

Why No Nike Shoes On The List
In previous years, my top 10 tennis shoe list has always featured at least one pair of Nike tennis shoes, most recently the Nike Air Zoom Vapor X, which I liked.
I was a long time wearer of the Nike Vapor 9.5. Primarily for the slick-looking design as I think they’re one of the best looking shoes on the market.
However, neither of those shoes are available anymore, and they have been replaced by the Air Zoom Vapor Pro, which came out at the start of 2021.
I got a pair to review, but a few weeks in, I am not a huge fan of the new Vapor Pro. The price: performance isn’t great, and I decided to remove it from the list and replace it with the Asics Solution Speed FF 2, which is a better buy.
I get the feeling Nike has lost its way with tennis shoes over recent years, and it doesn’t seem to be a huge area of focus. They definitely make stylish looking tennis footwear, but durability seems to decrease year on year, yet the price only goes upwards, so I can’t recommend them.
If you can stomach the durability, then the Vapor Pro are lightweight and give a good low to the ground feel but you’ll need to replace them often.

These X-Racer trail shoes from New Balance feature an upper made from a breathable synthetic and mesh combination, along with PU foxing tape around the toe and side. New Balance Lav Fresh Foam
The shoe of choice for Milos Raonic and named Lav due to the Candian’s grandfather giving him that nickname when he was a kid.
The Lav is New Balance’s premium tennis shoe and is fairly slick looking with a full bootie design and a knit/stitched upper, which helps with breathability and flexibility.
The key feature of the Lav is comfort, thanks to the fresh foam midsole, which provides a lot of cushioning. Couple that with the bootie construction, and you still get low to the ground feel.
Interestingly the shoes are quite heavy when you drop them on the scales, but once on, they don’ feel too cumbersome. That’s likely due to the foam, which gives you a feeling of light footedness.
The Lav’s sole is a one-piece design that would make you think they’re not flexible like some of the Asics shoes in the midfoot, but they aren’t stiff and offer similar levels of flex.
Despite the weight, the area the shoes disappoint is durability, but like some of the others in this list, New Balance does offer a 6-month outsole warranty that provides some peace of mind.

Adidas Forum 84 Adv Low Sneaker
By any measure, it’s been a banner year for the Adidas Forum Low, the old-school basketball shoe the Three Stripes relaunched in earnest in 2020. Bad Bunny might’ve been responsible for the buzziest take on the style to date but for our money the one released in February is the version worth tracking down. Done up in premium leather with hits of chalky white suede, it’s a low-key spin on a silhouette that somehow manages to look delightfully retro and remarkably of-the-moment all at once.

Sneakers are typically either perfect for the gym or suitable for wearing to the office or on a date but rarely are they both. Cole Haan solved this problem with its aptly-named ZERØGRAND All-Day Trainers.

Finally to conclude this list of latest shoe trends for 2022, its time to throw in the kitchen sink.
