Are Golden Goose Worth The Splurge
Ahhh Golden Goose Sneakers. Theyre one of the most highly-debated items when it comes to fashion, and especially shoes. Whats funny about them is they are obviously designer, but other designer items dont get quite as many opinions. I think it has to do with the fact that they are sneakers, and on top of that, most of their designs are worn in or scuffed up making the thought of spending 4, 5, 6 hundred dollars on them hard to justify for some. Which I get! Believe me.
I actually wasnt always the biggest fan of them, or at least wasnt sure I needed them in my own closet. It took me quite some time to warm up to them because I thought they might be too trendy. They also seemed very loud and out there, style-wise, that I just didnt feel would help justify the price since I tend to stick with neutral colors. But, they do have some neutral options, which I later discovered and thats when things started to shift.
As youve probably noticed from looks like this and this, Ive come around. In fact, I now LOVE me some Golden Goose. Thats not to say I dont stop and think about it before purchasing a pair, but when it comes to them being worth it, I know my answer. Since they are such a hot topic in the shoe world, I thought it would be a fun/interesting question to answer:

The Verdict: Are They Really Worth The Money
I really did not think I would like Golden Goose sneakers. As I mentioned above, I fully expected to tell you to save your money and buy a different pair instead.
To my surprise, they are wonderful and incredibly comfortable! These sneakers are no doubt a splurge, but they are so worth it.
I can wear them with just about anything in my closet. I wear them with dresses, skirts, shorts, jeans, and loungewear and they add a cool element to every look. Their versatility allows me to wear them all of the time, which decreases their cost per wear something that I often consider when splurging on higher-priced items.
Where Can You Find Them On Sale
You do NOT have to pay full price on GG! I get mine on sale most of the time. Personally, I have found great deals with them on Gilt , SSense, Farfetch, and sometimes, Shopbop. I also have purchased from eBay.

The First Ugly Sneaker
In 2018, everyones talking about ugly sneakers, from Balenciagas bulky, gorpcore Triple S shoes to Acnes exaggerated, Bill-Clinton-on-a-jog look. But sneakers have always been pretty ugly, and none more purposefully so than those of Golden Goose.
The first in-between sportswear and high-fashion sneakers, Golden Goose filled a void by providing a fashion sneaker that looks polished and cool, but not too precious. Like Balenciagas Triple S which are made to look deliberately scuffed, Golden Goose was the first to start that trend, symbolizing a larger cultural shift in how we display wealth today.
And unlike prettier sneakers that come and go with the trend mill , ugly sneakers have outlived them all. Ten years ago, when the Golden Goose Superstar was first released, ugly was different today, its a badge of honor. It sells, and no one knows that more than Golden Goose.
Is The Ssense Website A Reliable Site To Buy Gg Sneakers
- Absolutely! Ive order 3 pairs from them and have had no issues expect for a few day delay in shipping this past Black Friday. They are authentic GG sneakers and the SSENSE site is actually one of the best places to find them marked down during their sale! Are They Cheaper In Europe
- Yes! Because they are made in Italy, they are a little bit more affordable in Europe. With the VAT refund and conversion rate, they end up being about $100 $200 cheaper over in Paris, Italy and all of Europe. Why I Say But
It depends on your budget, obviously. For some, the price tag will simply not be worth it, if things like bills, rent, or other necessities need to come first.
It depends on how much wear youll get out of them. Like I suggest doing with ALL investment purchases, really ask yourself if you would get a good cost per wear out of them. If youre a sneakers girl, youll probably have a lot more wears out of a pair of sneakers and therefore they might be worth it for you. If you rarely wear sneakers, they might not be the smartest investment for you.
There are a lot of more budget-friendly options out there that resemble the original Golden Goose sneaker. In fact, I wrote an entire post on Statement Sneakers At All Price Points. Youll see in that post that you dont need to spend Golden Goose money on a similar look if you dont want to. HOWEVER, dont just buy dupes if theyre just going to sit on your shoe shelf. If theyre not your style, just bypass it all together to eliminate waste and needless donations down the road! Just because its trendy doesnt mean you need to hop on the train!
If youre in the market for a pair now, I recommend taking a look at Net-a-Porter and Farfetch. I find that they have the widest variety and carries quite a bit in regard to inventory. SSense is another great retailer to find Golden Goose on aside from the usual Shopbop and Nordstrom.

Golden Goose Inspired Sneakers At Steve Madden
We never wished to stack too much from one brand, but we just cant get enough of the Steve Madden models. Borrowing inspiration from Golden Goose, these sneakers are available in a variety of colors and styles, all of which fall under the $100 price category.
Although that might sound pricier, probably for the designer inspired, here you can rest assured youre getting excellent quality. Besides, the shoes are constantly coming out in new designs. And they run true to size.
Are Golden Goose Sneakers Worth The Price
About a year ago or so, I was casually perusing Pinterest with my morning coffee and I happened upon a pair of Golden Goose sneakers. Now, these were not just any pair of sneakers. They were beyond: refined yet modernall with a vintage style. Whoa.
I immediately clicked the link to purchase these sneaker unicorns andoh. Little did I know that they came with a big, HUGE price tag. So therefore my infatuation ended abruptly.
NOT REALLY.
I started to see Golden Goose popping up EVERYWHERE Instagram, blogs, Facebook. As much as I tried to bury my feelings for these sneakers, deep down in the depths of my fashion blogger soulI wanted them. BAD.
I just couldnt get past the price. $200? Maybe. Considering cost-per-wear, plus the fact that theyre perfect. But more than $300? hmm. Thats a lot. I didnt get why so many people were willing to shell out such big bucks for them.
So. S, being well aware of our mutual obsession over these shoes, finally decided: it was time to test them out. One of us HAD TO DO IT. It just made sense, considering how popular they are and that we are a style blog. Being the self-sacrificing, generous person that I am, I agreed to take on the task. A pair of Golden Goose were ordered, shipped and delivered to my casaand I may have squealed a little when opening up the box.
It is now official. The Mom Edit is in possession of THE IT SHOE. It was time to give these babies a real try and possibly give them the TME stamp of approval .

Golden Goose Courts Controversy
Distressed footwear has long been part of the uniform of those who play by their own rules or march to the beat of their own drums: grungy, edgy, and certainly against all the standard rules of fashion.
However, there is edgy and there is going too far. Too far is where Golden Goose went in 2016 and again in 2018 when they released a pair of sneakers that looked more weather-worn than usual: in fact, what made these shoes distinct was the use of what appeared to be silvery duct tape keeping the shoes from falling to pieces.

Whats The Moral Of The Cheugy Story
Whats the moral of the cheugy story? If you fancy yourself an on-the-cusp-of-a-trend kind of person, then yes, certain items might not feel cool and edgy once more people are showcasing them. But for the majority of us, we can ride out the style with confidence. But, this is a BIG but, I dont recommend buying into a trend in those last 3 years from a financial investment perspective. At least not a full price.
You can confidently still wear all of the items identified on the cheugy list . However, all of those items have indeed hit a saturation point, and my fashion forecast would say that in the next 3-5 years, they might start feeling like the overstitched, bedazzled True Religion jeans of yore.
Bottom line, I will still be proudly rocking my Golden Goose kicks. There are times my GG belt will be part of my #OOTD looks. And I will even help source these pieces for clients if I think its a good fit for them . I will also be keeping my eyes on the horizon. When I feel its time to retire said articles and what to replace them with.
Golden Goose Italian Sizing & Fit
They come in Italian sizing, which can be confusing so I wanted to share a breakdown:
IT 36 = US 6,IT 40 = US 10and so on
Golden Goose sneakers only come in full sizes and are true to size, but if your normal shoe size is a ½ size, I recommend sizing down. For example, if youre a size US 8.5, get the size IT 38.
The sneakers are comfortable right out of the box but the more you wear them, the more they mold to your foot and become even more comfortable! Depending on the style you get, some have a bulkier fit. They also have high-tops if thats more your style. But the classic style looks super chic and sleek on your feet.

Like all other sneaker brands, to maintain the quality and ensure longevity keep them fresh by cleaning regularly. Even though the pre-scuff marks may make it slightly more tricky to determine what should be washing off, keep your sneakers box fresh by following these simple steps.
- First things first, as much as you may be tempted to, dont put them in the washing machine. This can damage your sneakers.
- Always use a soft bristled brush or toothbrush to get rid of any dust or loose dirt first.

Golden Goose Sneakers Is It Worth The Money
For those that are unaware of who or what the golden goose sneakers are, they are made by Golden Goose Delux Brand. GGDB was born in 2000 by two merging Venetian designers Francesca Rinaldo and Alessandro Gallo.
Fast forward to now, they have one of the most coveted skater looking sneakers out there. GGDB is all about the vintage feeling and combines the West Coast skater cool with Italian cobbling excellence via SCMP. .
I mean I get it, they look dirty, old, and something that has gone through hell and back. BUT, I decided to take one for the team ? and buy myself a pair of golden goose sneakers. I couldnt find myself to buy the $500 pair, but I did find my pink pair on sale for under $400.
But are they worth it?!
Well, I guess that depends on who you ask. For me, I am still a little shocked that I actually paid that much for a worn out, and dirty looking sneakers. Do they look cool? Yes . But are they reallllly worth it? I cant decide, honestly!
Whats my take on them?
At first, they were VERY stiff. I have tried to wear them several times to see if I can break them in, and its slooowly getting there. The first two times I wore them they hurt, like really hurt.
The inside of the shoes has this cloth material that rubs on my toes wrong and does make them a bit uncomfortable. I have been wearing these barefooted, and am on the hunt for some thin no-show socks. Hopefully, having socks on will make them better.
