Stockx Rules Regarding Shoe Condition

How To Sell Sneakers On StockX | Full Tutorial & Walkthrough

Deadstock or DS are the only kind of shoes StockX accepts. But that can be a bit of loose term depending on who you ask.

Thats why StockX has their own interpretation of it. According to StockX, deadstock sneakers are brand-new and have never been worn before. Its all about authenticity because there are many fake high-end sneakers sold online.

Most deadstock shoes have additional items included with the shoes. Things like shoelaces come to mind. Whatever was in the original packaging must still be there. StockX will accept shoes that are laced up already, provided they dont show any signs of wear.

Some acceptable flaws are minor discolorations that are entirely uncontrollable. This is particularly acceptable if the deadstock sneakers are over five years old, and signs of aging are to be expected.

Deadstock sneakers have to come in their original box. It doesnt matter if you find a shoebox from the same manufacturer, it has to match the size and model of the shoe youre selling.

And the shoebox can have small dents, but tears and more significant signs of damage will result in StockX rejecting the shoes altogether.

But you need to be mindful of a lot when youre reselling your shoes. What are the fees?

This is an obvious indication that the product has been marked up above its original retail cost. A forged tag is also a strong indication that something is wrong with the validity of your product.

In the account overview above, you can also see the Buyer Punchcard, which is a kind of stamp card for buyers. After every 5th purchase of a sneaker, you get a shipping voucher for $13.95. This covers the amount for the shipping, so the shipping becomes free.

There are literally thousands of items to choose from onStockX. Once you find an item you’re interested in, you can either buy it immediately for the current lowest asking price or submit a bid and wait for one of the many sellers with the same item to accept the offer. It’s worth noting that StockX requires you to link to a payment method when placing bids. You’ll only be charged if and when your bid is accepted. This is put in place to rid the marketplace of meaningless offers from flakers.

After your purchase is confirmed, the seller has two business days to ship your item out for professional authentication at StockX. I personally love that sellers are held accountable for timely shipping because nobody likes to wait a long time for items to arrive. Once your item arrives at StockX, it’s marked with a green “verified authentic” tag and it’s shipped out to you. You can track the status of your order online.

As a buyer, you’ll be able to keep track of current offers placed, pending purchases, and past purchases. Since it shows a collective amount of how much you’ve spent, you’ll be less likely to spend your life savings on sneakers and streetwear.

Are you considering to earn money from reselling shoes? Then we highly recommend reading these helpful tips. Reselling shoes is very similar to the stock market. You need to understand the market and what is currently trending and in demand. You will probably not make a lot from selling an old pair of classic Nikes. Therefore, you have to focus on shoes, that have history and increase in value over time, like a good quality wine. A good idea to start with is buying a new pair of kicks on release day at the retail price and sell them later as the price goes up. You can check the StockX for the current prices on the market.

A perfect example is Nike SB x Ben & Jerrys Chunky Dunky release. Chunky Dunkys retail price was around $110 USD and they are at $3 200 USD right now. Just over two weeks after the release. It mostly depends on type of the shoe and the demand on the market. You kind of have to predict whats happening right now and what factors can influence it. To get the latest releases, we recommend using the Frenzy app. The mobile app Frenzy allows you to get all the hottest sneaker and streetwear drops to your phone without any hassle. No more waiting in lines or trying to win over bots.

What Happens If You Disobey The Rules

StockX requires that the shoes you want to sell should be in perfect condition. That is assumed if you are using StockX to sell them. However, not everybody will take StockXâs deadstock sneakers policy seriously, and some may attempt to send them used ones.

Return freight costs are high, but they nevertheless occur. Even if you take the time and effort to package your sneakers according to StockX requirements, they will reject if they donât meet their standards.

However, are there any risks associated with delivering a pair of shoes that are not deadstock? StockX claims that if you give them a couple of old shoes, they may take a service charge of up to 15%.

Additionally, and this is critical, StockX is under no legal responsibility to return an item that does not comply with their standards. They may even contact the authorities if someone attempts to send fake sneakers via their website.

Additionally, StockX may penalize sellers who do not ship their footwear on time or adequately package them. All of these procedures are taken to expedite the buyerâs delivery.

Applying The 10x Rule

NIKE Provides EVIDENCE That Stockx Is Selling Fake Sneakers

Thinking back again to the successful commodity traders, I recognized the obvious fact that the reason that these traders became millionaires is because they were trading in large quantities of money.

I had also been watching the TV show Million Dollar Listing at the time, where real estate agents made as much money selling one house as the average American would earn in a year. They did basically the same amount of work as the typical real estate agent but made ten times more simply because they were selling houses that were ten times more.

I was selling $50-$100 items and making about $10 per sale and $50 per week, so I thought, why dont I sell items that are priced at $500-$1000 and make $100 per sale and $500 per week?

A similar amount of work for 10x the results.

I had saved some money and was ready to start flipping more expensive items but wasnt really sure where to start, so I searched for higher ticket items to sell. I knew luxury items were expensive, so I researched high end designer items and expensive watches.

Through my research though, I found that it was nearly impossible to make money reselling name brand luxury items. In fact, they were almost universally selling for less on eBay than they were in the store, even when they were on clearance.

Every now and then, I would find a luxury item on deep clearance at the mall and see on eBay that I could make a profit, but that the margin would be too thin and the sale too slow to justify the upfront investment.

If You Break The Rules

StockX expects the shoes youre selling to be absolutely flawless. Thats because if youre using StockX to sell them, thats implied.

However, not everyone will take the StockX deadstock sneakers rule that seriously, and they might try to send them used pairs of shoes.

The shipping fees involved with returns are astronomical, but it still happens. Even if you spend enough time and effort to package the sneakers by StockX guidelines, if your shoes arent up to their standards, theyll be rejected.

But are there any potential repercussions to sending a pair of sneakers that arent deadstock? StockX claims that they might charge a service fee of up to 15% if you send them a pair of used shoes.

Also, and this is important, StockX doesnt have any legal obligations to send you back an item that doesnt conform to their rules. If people try to send counterfeit sneakers via their website, they might even call the authorities.

StockX can also penalize users who dont ship their shoes on time or dont package them properly. These measures are all in the interest of speeding up the delivery for the buyer.
