This shoe, produced in 2019, pays homage to them and features such Nike geekery as the backwards logo, lining that reads For Ekin feet only and the slogan E4L, which represents the mantra Ekin for Life. The question is are you Ekin enough for these shoes?
Nike Air Force 1 Cultural Moments And Celebrity Status
The NBA’s Rasheed Wallace was known for wearing the high-top version of the sneaker in the ’00s. His PE versions featured his silhouette logo on the heel and several versions of the sneaker released at retail.
Away from the basketball court, all white-on-white Air Forces have become a staple among sneaker collectors and entertainers. Rapper Fat Joe famously showed off a case of white-on-white Air Force 1 lows on an episode of MTV Cribs. Producer and rapper Dr. Dre claimed he wears a new pair of white Nike Air Force 1s every day and showcased his closet full of the sneaker on the Internet. The sneaker even received its own anthem when Nelly created a song called “Air Force Ones” in 2002, which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Collaboration partners on the Nike Air Force 1 have included Travis Scott, Roc-A-Fella records, PlayStation, G-Dragon and more.
The sneaker’s all-white base made it ripe for customization, which boosted its popularity. Not only were artists coloring up their own pairs at home, but Nike also made it available on its customization platform, Nike By You .
Introducing Nike Air Force : An Evolution Of Color And Style
The Nike Air Force 1 basketball shoe debuted in 1982. The first version of the sneaker was a high-top with an ankle strap that was popular among big men in the NBA at the time. A low-top version of the sneaker was released a year later. Nike originally planned to discontinue the sneaker, but local sneaker shops in Baltimore, Maryland, encouraged the brand to make new colorways through a “Color of the Month” club, which reinvigorated the sneaker’s popularity. In the mid-’90s, Nike released a mid-top version of the sneaker that featured a strap. Women’s sizing for the Nike Air Force 1 was introduced in 2001. Since 2010, the silhouette has evolved, using premium materials such as Nike Foamposite and Flyknit. The Nike Air Force 1 also became a canvas for numerous collaborations and customizations. The silhouette is known as one of Nikeís best-selling sneakers.

Nike Air Force 1 React
You can’t talk about the Air Force 1 without mentioning the Nike Air Force 1 React. One of the latest models to utilise the signature AF1 moniker, it’s another low-top pair that features a hybrid midsole. Combining Air technology with React foam, it offers sneakerheads with the best of both worlds, taking comfort and cushioning levels to an all-time-high. Something that makes the AF1 React stand out from the rest is the extra large Swoosh logo that shoots across the lateral and medial side panels. This gives the retro shoe a contemporary look that’s made to turn heads wherever you go.

Nike Air Force 1 Takes Its Design Up In The Air
Designed by Bruce Kilgore, the Nike Air Force 1 was the first Nike sneaker to feature “Air” technology. The silhouette’s distinct features include its perforated toebox, variable width lacing options on the eyelets and concentric circle patterns on the outsole. Famous for its simple design, most wearers purchase the Nike Air Force 1 half a size smaller than usual because it runs slightly big in leather.
In the ’90s, a variation of the sneaker with a jewel Swoosh logo was introduced, replacing the standard broad Swoosh. Over the years, the silhouette has been adapted for various purposes, including an all-weather version that can act as a snow boot and an updated basketball performance model called the Air Force 25.
Nike Air Force 1 Shadow
Building on the Low variant, the Nike Air Force 1 Shadow is like a deconstructed take on the Bruce Kilgore made silhouette. With a chunkier profile, dual Swoosh branding, and random patches of materials throughout, the Shadow was made for those who love the simplicity of the AF1 but want something a little bit more. Some of these colourways are known to incorporate buttery smooth suede into the designs, resulting in the perfect juxtaposition of fits and finishes.

Nike X Louis Vuitton Air Force 1
Sold for $151,200
Why spend six figures on a shoe that you cant or musnt wear? The answer is Virgil Abloh, the trailblazing US fashion designer and Louis Vuitton menswear director who died last year. He had the brilliant idea to marry two opposite universes street culture and luxury, says Mathieu Le Maux, a French journalist and the author of 1,000 Sneakers. He was an artist, and now he is a legend thats why everyone wants it.
When the monogrammed calf-leather shoe was released in February, one pair a dinky, perfectly proportioned UK size 3 sold for $352,800. Even at that price, they are an investment, says Wood: As the last thing Abloh did with Nike, it will still be historically significant in 30 years time. With just 200 pairs in existence, it is all about scarcity. Some could burn down in a house fire, or they could be worn and destroyed, says Wood. Truly, the sneakerheads worst nightmare.
Are The Nike Air Force 1s True To Size
The Nike Air Force 1 brand of sneakers has a tendency to be very large on the foot and require you to go a full size down when purchasing one of these sneakers. Additionally, you may also want to tie the laces somewhat tight since these shoes are looser on the foot.

Find Style In Sensible Shoes
We all need a dose of practical in our footwear collections, but our sensible shoes don’t need to be boring. Women can find comfort in platform sandals, ranging from flatforms with cutouts and glitter detailing, to wedge heels. Pair both with summer dresses, boyfriend jeans or maxi skirts. Casual Fridays and weekends spell trainer time for men and women. Look to pastel shades to wear with this season’s streetwear, or opt for white retro classics for some fashion editor style. Sliders are the shoes of the summer, perfect for beside the pool or on the beach, but look to Chelsea boots and loafers for cooler days.
Everyone Wants Them: The Trainers That Sold For $150000
Several pairs of Nike Air Force 1s were auctioned at Sothebys this week to celebrate the shoes 40th anniversary. These five commanded the top prices just dont expect them to be worn
When a trainer commands a six-figure price at its own Sothebys auction, you know it has transcended everyday shoe status. Indeed, no sensible sneakerhead if such a thing exists would wear any of the 40 rare Nike Air Force 1 trainers that were sold on Tuesday at Sothebys New Yorks 40 for 40 sale .
The AF1 is not just a trainer it is a cultural phenomenon. Designed as a basketball shoe by Bruce Kilgore in 1982, it was expected to be replaced by the AF2, the AF3 and so on, but consumer demand put paid to that. Its the perfect design in its simplicity, says Simon Wood, the founder of Sneaker Freaker magazine.
It is also an incredibly well-connected shoe, with close links to NBA stars, hip-hop royalty and high-fashion brands. All this, says Wood, percolates into creating an aura that is far more dynamic than the shoe itself. So, which of the worlds most covetable AF1s proved most desirable of all?

All The Celebrities Who Attended Virgil Ablohs Last Louis Vuitton Show
Virgil Ablohs designs are still making headlines.
Louis Vuitton and Nike announced on Wednesday that they will release a limited-edition drop of the late designers Air Force 1 sneakers, which debuted last June as part of the fashion houses Spring 2022 collection.
Abloh died in November at the age of 41, following a private two-year battle with cancer.
Abloh launched the scholarship fund for black fashion students in 2020 with an initial endowment of $1 million.
The auction will run from Jan. 26 to Feb. 8, and the shoes will be available in an exclusive colorway and a range of sizes from 5 to 18, with bids starting at $2,000.
However, those not lucky enough to score an exclusive pair from the sale can wait for the commercial launch of the sneakers later this year, when theyll be available in limited quantities exclusively at Louis Vuitton.
Just a few days after Ablohs death, the French fashion brand staged his Miami fashion show as planned, with larger-than-life tributes to the man himself and his lasting legacy.
Louis Vuitton also plans to show his mens Fall 2022 collection in two shows on Thursday as part of Paris Fashion Week.
Air Will Be Sold By The Box
The names and faces of those who initially wore the Air Force 1 also set a tone. The White/Grey high-top wasnt the first basketball shoe to be endorsed by a player, but it was the first to be endorsed by six players at once.
Initial marketing efforts included posters with the phrase Starting this season, air will be sold by the box. Other posters showed six contemporary pro stars wearing the Air Force 1, as well as flight suits, on a runway. As the shoes legend grew, these three sets of teammates would become known as the Original Six:
- Moses Malone (Philadelphia
- Mychal Thompson

What Are Standout Features Of The Nike Air Force 1
The modern version of the Nike Air Force 1s includes features and materials that help them stand out, such as:
- Foamposite The Nike Air Force 1 uses Nikes proprietary material, Foamposite. Foamposite uses polyurethane liquid that is heated and molded into the correct shape in order to provide a comfortable fit for the foot. The material works similar to memory foam, and it molds to the foot over time as its worn.
- Hyperfuse At its core, the Nike Air Force 1 sneakers are low-top casual shoes designed for basketball. Nike opted to utilize their Hyperfuse technology in the 07 Air Force for women to promote performance. Hyperfuse uses a construction that has three layers for stability, breathability, and durability, while keeping a unibody design.
- Liquid Metal Starting in the 2019 iteration of these 80s-throwback sneakers, Nike offered a liquid metal variation. These provide a metallic finish to the shoe. Available color choices include gold, silver, and rose gold. Each of these also uses tonal eyelets for the laces, color-matching laces, dubraes, and liners. The soles on these are the classic white that is found in almost all variations of the Air Force 1.
- Flyknit Nike Flyknit is a technology designed to help shoes feel lighter on the foot. This is particularly important for runners as weighty shoes dont really work well when running. Flyknit Air Force 1s are designed to fit more like a sock than a shoe and have a one-piece upper that uses lightweight yarn.

Nike Air Force 1 Colorways And Collectibility
Aside from the monochromatic all-white and all-black colorways of the Nike Air Force 1, which have become sneaker staples, there have been several highly valued Nike Air Force 1 collaborations over the years.
Streetwear brand Supreme has put its spin on different versions of the sneaker ó from high to low to mid. In 2014, Supreme released a high-top leather version in three colorways: Red/White , White/Black and Black/White . Each version had “Supreme” spelled out on the back and the words “World Famous” across the ankle strap. Pairs have been spotted on eBay selling for upwards of $1,000, with one offered for nearly $2,800.
A Supreme collab on the Air Force 1 Mid in 2018 came in two colorways: Black/Black and White/White . This version of the sneaker featured NBA team logos all over and the word “Supreme” across the front of the ankle strap. It retailed for $165, and specific colorways and sizes resale for much higher.
Supreme also created more subtle versions of the Air Force 1. In 2012, the streetwear brand released three versions of the shoe with canvas uppers in Cargo Khaki/Baroque Brown , Black and Olive . This collection featured white midsoles, a red Supreme box logo tag and gum bottoms. Resale value for this collab can range anywhere from $600 to $1,500, depending on the size and colorway.
