What To Wear Them With
The Golden Goose Superstars are some of the most versatile sneakers in my wardrobe. The worn-in look makes them super easy to style. I typically wear mine with denim, faux leather leggings, or workout sets. However, Ive also paired them with casual knit dresses and found that to be a chic combination. While I love wearing them when Im traveling or running errands, they also look great for casual outings when you want to be comfortable but look stylish.

Are Golden Goose Sneakers True To Size
I think so! I tried a pair on in Nordstrom before adding to cart online, and I got a size 38. I typically wear 7.5, so it was essentially sizing up one half size since Golden Goose only come in whole sizes!
So far, I have zero regrets about the investment! My only concern is not being cool enough to know how to properly tie them.
And Then I Got A Pair
Last year I ended up having enough money on a gift card to purchase my first pair of Golden Goose Sneakers! I spotted the cutest white and tie dye pair , I went with a 37 , and highly anticipated the arrival of these fancy sneakers.
Once they arrived, they were basically everything I expected!
I was surprised that theyre made in Italy, I thought that was cool, considering how much money they are! Also, since theyre leather, they had a squeak for the first few wears, which I wont lie, drove me nuts! Once I broke them in the squeak went away, though.

I finally caved. After putting a pair of Golden Goose sneakers on my wishlist over a year ago, I couldnt justify the price for dirty shoes that cost upwards of $500-$600. However the more and more I saw how versatile they are, and how good they looked, I became more and more persuaded to finally hit the buy button. And I am so glad I did! I have lots of different sneakers, but nothing really compares to the comfort and style of these Golden Goose Superstar sneakers. So today I wanted to share with you exactly what I think about them, where to buy them, and how to go about choosing your size. Golden Goose sneakers are definitely an investment, so I also wanted to feature a few of my favorite alternatives and dupes.

You want an honest Golden Goose review? Youre about to get an honest Golden Goose review. In the words of Shania Twain, lets go girls. Never did I ever think that Id be the fool dropping a rent payment on a pair of sneakers. Likethats ridiculous. So lets get that out there in the open from the get go Golden Goose sneakers are ridiculous.
Absurd, really.
I mean, theyre sneakers with a star on the side that are MADE to look DIRTY, and then sold for $500+. Absurd I tell ya!
And honestly, I used to mock them. I thought only a snob sneezing dollars would have the audacity to spend that much money on dirty sneakers, because they couldnt possibly be good, let alone great.
So how did I go from eyerolling them to wearing them?

Theyre so comfortable! they said.

Pros To Golden Goose Sneakers
Limited quantities of each style.
Why do I consider this a pro? The brand releases new styles each month and they go real quick! When I am paying this much for anything, I dont want to the exact color/style on 10 of my friends. Each pair feels unique and special, almost limited edition.
Already dirty.
This baffles people, like why am I paying for dirty looking shoes? As a kid, my mom would buy me bright white Keds and I would immediately go in the dirt to get them dirty or take a pen and draw on them. This made her so mad, clearly. Ive never liked the look of bright white shoes, now I just pay a lot of money for this look. Haha. I mean your shoes are always going to get dirty eventually, Golden Goose just speeds up the process.
Comfortable!
I get this question a lot. Yes, they are super comfortable!
No shoe is identical.
This goes back to what I was saying on limited quantities. Each pair is handmade and hand distressed. One of a kind, pretty cool right?
Cost per wear.
The number question asked is are they worth the money?. I cant answer that for you. Totally a personal choice. However, look at all the shoes in your closet. Do you wear them a lot? I went through mine and found several pair of sneakers Ive spent $80-$150 on that I wore maybe 3 or 4 times. Yet, I wear my all of my GGDB sneakers ALL THE TIME! Like I said, cost per wear!
They look just as cool with dresses and skirts as they do with jeans and loungewear.
How Do They Compare To Other Sneakers
I would say theyre definitely the nicest manufactured sneakers I own and the most comfortable! I am also a fan of my Tretons and Vejas, but definitely understand why GG sneakers are so expensive they stand above the rest! A key reason being that they have a feature that I havent found in any other sneaker a little bump right in the sole that gives you some arch support and also the visual illusion of making your legs look longer by adding a little over an inch of height! My 51 self is all about this, and is a major differentiation factor for them. Added height, thats also super comfortable, is a win/win in my book. Also, since theyre made in such small batches and handcrafted, no two are the same unlike other mass-produced sneaker styles. I have yet to see another sneaker that has such gorgeous glitter like mine do!

Where Can You Find Them On Sale
You do NOT have to pay full price on GG! I get mine on sale most of the time. Personally, I have found great deals with them on Gilt , SSense, Farfetch, and sometimes, Shopbop. I also have purchased from eBay.

About a year ago, I put a pair of golden goose sneakers on my wishlist, but felt like I could never justify a pair of sneakers that cost anywhere between $400 and $500 But, I loved how they looked and how they could go with so many different outfits. So, after crushing hard on them for almost a year, I decided to pull the trigger. I ordered my pair online and decided if I didnt absolutely LOVE them then I would return. Clearly, I fell in love! So today I want share my honest golden goose sneaker review with yall today why I love them and think theyre worth the money, sizing, and more!
First, Ill tell yall why golden goose sneakers have been worth the money . I love that these are shoes you can wear year round, no matter how hot or cold it is, and no matter where you live. I have worn these shoes in both summer and winter now and love them for BOTH. If youre going to spend $500 on a pair of sneakers, you better be able to wear them year round and you definitely can with golden goose!

Are Golden Goose Sneakers Comfortable
Yes, they are! Granted, theyre not orthopedics, so dont expect to feel like youre walking on a cloud here, folks. Id say arch support is medium, and I have high arches. But Ive worn them *heavily* already, and so far, not a single blister or rub mark in sight, and zero pain of any kind. Ive worn them all day long for both work and play, as well as for travel, and even in booking it across an airport terminal with them NOT BEING TIED, I still was A OK.
Golden Goose Sneaker Brand Identifiers
Italian craftsmanship is central to the Golden Goose brand, so all sneakers should be marked Made in Italy. Look carefully at the tags on the tongue of the shoe. Many say GGDB Made In Italy Size ___ some have a perforated GGDB, and you may see other variations as well, but according to Finch the printing on the tag should be bold with consistent fonts. Another place to pay attention to the fonts is on the counter, or outer heel of the shoe, where the brand logo should be neatly debossed with a slight arch. When authenticating, the font to watch out for is the traditional arched logo stamp on the exterior counters. This font will be serifed and have an arch. Again, this stamp will vary depending on the style, but styles with the traditional stamp are most counterfeited.
The insoles for Golden Goose sneakers are also quite consistent. Each will be stamped with black ink in a bold, sans-serif font, notes Finch. The stamp should include the style name of the sneaker, brand logo, a registered mark, and country of origin. The insoles should also be blind stamped with the European size and Genuine Leather in a serifed font. Also keep an eye out for a perforated GG and DB near the toe and notches on the edge towards the instep.

It probably sounds crazy to spend $400+ on a pair of sneakers, but Im all about cost per wear. That said, the Golden Goose Superstar sneakers are worth every penny in my opinion. Ive had mine for years and theyve all held up incredibly well even though Ive worn them a ton. If you foresee yourself wearing them a few times a week, theyre definitely worth buying. I think its also important to note that these sneakers are hand made with high-quality Italian leather, which also justifies the higher price point. With athleisure and comfort dressing being here to stay, you really cant go wrong with high-quality, designer sneakers that will elevate your look.

So. Ive been wearing these puppies for the past couple of months now, and I can say, without question, that this is a really. cool. shoe. Theyve beat out my Converse, and I get why theyve become so popular. They are justreally cool.
In order to really lay it all out there for ya, though, I put together a Golden Goose Sneaker pros and cons listall are my own observations and honest thoughts on them.
Pros
- the designers are from Italy, so, yeh. Legit footwear.
- raised heel bed, which makes the shoe appear to be a bit smaller than it actually is. *this is just an observation, not 100% fact. I am 99% sure that that is how they engineered the shoe, though. I could feel it and even see it.
- the overall style is just the epitome of everything a street-style sneaker should be sporty , with understated details in the star and its placement, unique colors of the soles, laces & of course, a proper amount of scuffing.
- comfortable the foot bed is slightly cushioned & the laces can be worn more loose to make it a more roomy fit
- all-leather never a bad thing. They smell good and I know that they will last.
Why Golden Goose Sneakers Are Worth The Money
Youve probably already pulled the trigger and bought a pair, or theyve been sitting in your shopping cart for months because you cant bring yourself to spend $500 on sneakers.
And if you have no clue what sneakers I am talking about, then you most likely just stopped in your tracks and screamed, $500?! FOR SNEAKERS?!
Yep, $500..for sneakers. But let me justify.
I get on here a lot to discuss the why when it comes to investment pieces. Ive justified handbags, black boots, and most recently, a Veronica Beard blazer . Im not the kindof gal to randomly drop a chunk of change on just anything. I grew up counting my pennies and take every dollar thats in my bank account seriously. And the older I have gotten, I have discovered that I would rather own QUALITY, INVESTMENT pieces than a bunch of shitty, fast fashion. Whos with me on that?!
But even after I tried them on, I still didnt make the financial plunge. I knew I liked the appearance, I knew I loved the fit, and I knew what size I wore .so now all I had to do was wait for a style I liked to go on sale! Fast forward about 60 days, and I got an email from The Outnet saying that they would be launching Golden Goose sneakers sale the following Tuesday.so I got on their site bright early that morning and finally snagged a white pair with gold & silver glitter accents for around $200!
