Those that are interested in copping a pair should move fast. While the Air Max 97 silhouette isnât as coveted as Nikeâs Dunk, the latter sold out in mere seconds, causing error messages and pre-saved designs to disappear. The number of pairs available through the Nike By You program have also been very restricted in the past, with the last drop rumored to be limited to around 130,000 pairs. Regardless of the type of silhouette, each consumer is also limited to one custom sneaker.
New personalization options â Nikeâs latest By You drop allows consumers to customize the Air Max 97 more than ever before, with new color options and the chance to add a pattern to the shoeâs mesh underlays. Classic shades like black, navy, and gray are there if you want to keep your design neutral, while neon hues like orange, yellow, green, and pink can be used as accents or statement-making uppers.

Nike just unveiled the brand new Nike Makers Experience. This new project allows you to customize shoes to the next level. The best part about all of this? You can create the shoes in less than 90 minutes.
The Nike Makers Experience will open this month Nike By You Studio at 45 Grand in New York. Nikes Advanced Innovation team brings elements of this process to the consumer by merging digital design with traditional footwear making.
The experience begins with a series of graphic options, generated from either Nike heritage or on-the-spot phrases, which can then be customized into patterns through shifts to size and color.
The intention of the project is to bring to life the collaborative design experience that we offer our athletes, says Mark Smith, VP of Innovation Special Projects. They love products that tell their story, so we wanted to combine that idea with a new process of live design and manufacturing that allows our guests to come into the space, work collaboratively with us and leave with a special product in less than 90 minutes.
They use a one-of-a-kind version of the Nike Presto X, a silhouette specially created by the Nike Advanced Innovation for the Nike Makers Experience. There are two versions of the shoe, a traditional Presto and a slip-on. Both are equally suited to the process of customization via dynamic object tracking and projection systems that instantly bring designs to life.

How You Could Create Your Own Custom Sneaker With Nikes Design Team
As part of the brand’s ongoing Coronavirus response, Nike CEO and President John Donahoe will be giving one lucky fan the opportunity to win a private tour of Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. The winner will also get to design a pair of their own sneakers with help from the companys design team.
The experience is part of Fanatics’ All in Challenge, a virtual fundraiser supporting a number of non-profit organizations working on Covid-19 relief efforts. Donahoe made the announcement in a video posted to the challenge organizer’s website.
Nike’s offering is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, which includes an all-expenses-paid trip, a behind-the-scenes tour of the Nike world headquarters, attending a design session with the brand’s top designers to create a customized shoe design, and a one-on-one mentorship session with Donahoe.
Donations for this experience are open now with bids starting at $10 for 10 entries and $100 for 200 entries. All of the proceeds will go directly to Feeding America, Meals On Wheels, World Central Kitchen and No Kid Hungry, eliminating food insecurity during the coronavirus pandemic. Bidding ends on June 3.

How To Design Your Af1 Yourself
First, take the laces out of your kicks. You then need the acetone to deglaze the leather of your sneakers. This basically just removes the factory finish from the leather uppers. This step is extremely important and must not be skipped under any circumstances. You want your designs to last longer than a rain shower. So be generous with the acetone! If you do it right, your fingertips will end up a little white from the finish of the shoes.
The second step is to mask off the corners, or all that you donât want to paint, as you would when whitewashing a room. If you have a very calm and accurate brush stroke, you can skip this step. The same applies if you just want to colour everything. Press the tape firmly to the ends of your âdrawing areaâ, for example the Swoosh. Once you have done this carefully, take the blade of your choice.
Now it gets tricky! You want to cut the tape along the lines , but of course you donât want to damage the upper So be careful and leave yourself enough time to work accurately. Bonus tip: If you donât want to paint your sole and save tape, just use a piece of kitchen paper or newspaper!
Get to the pots! After your idea for the shoe, choose your colour palette of acrylic paint for leather and just go for it. Keep in my mind: thin layers of paint give the best result. Put your favourite music and let the painting begin.

The new system, called The Nike Makers Experience, is currently available by invite-only at the company’s Nike By You studio in New York.
