More than 60 health plans nationwide have partnered with Silver Sneakers to include this valuable benefit. Some of these include AARP Silver Sneakers , but they have discontinued this relationship in several states.

What Medicare Plans Have Silver Sneakers In 2022
SilverSneakers is a fitness program that is specifically targeted to seniors in order to help them stay fit and healthy.
In participating fitness and wellness centers, gyms and YMCAs and currently also online, you will find specially trained instructors to teach SilverSneakers classes. Of course, the availability of SilverSneakers classes varies by insurance plan and your location, and is subject to change, but if one is available to you, you may be able to join group exercise classes, the classic program with a variety of exercises, fitness and workout programs for cardiovascular and muscular strength, aerobics, yoga, as well as relaxation and stretching classes for stress reduction. All programs are designed to be easy-to-follow, low-impact on movement, safe, heart-healthy and gentle on the joints. Many classes offer chair support in order to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement.

The Silver Sneakers program is accepted in various gyms. But did you know that you can use multiple gyms?
With this card, you can be a member of different gyms in various states at the same time!

There are more than 60 health plans across the country that include Silver Sneakers, so it would make sense that some Supplement plans would include them. Supplement plans for Medicare subscribers are also known as Medigap plans, and these cover common medical expenses like blood usage, deductibles, copayments and more. Silver Sneakers is not a requirements for any of the 10 different kinds of Supplement plans, but private insurers that sell the plans are allowed to include them in their Supplement plans, if they want.
Only a fraction of insurance providers will include Silver Sneakers in 2020 Medicare Supplement plans, and you will need to check to see if this program is a part of any plan you are intending to sign up for. If you havent heard the news, United Healthcare has decided to end Silver Sneakers Benefits for a ton of its customers and replacing it with their own program called Renew Active.
While it wont have the exact same benefits, according to Renew Active, they will allow members to visit a participating fitness location to receive standard access at no additional cost.
Your access will include a variety of exercise equipment, classes and group activities.
You choose the programs and location that are right for you.
