Is It A Flexible Shoe
Women tread differently, so those shoes that ensure optimal flexibility for the way you play must be prioritized. The arches are less hard and the flex grooves more numerous.
It is common to find womens paddle tennis shoes with a slightly raised heel . This is because the heel suffers more in the players, so a reinforcement is included to minimize this damage.
Adidas Stella Court Barricade Tennis Shoe
For women who want a high-performance, comfortable, and lightweight shoe, the Adidas Stella Court is one of the best shoes on the market.
The Stella Court, like most Adidas shoes, has a great combination of comfort, performance, and style. These shoes come with a mesh upper material that gives them a sock-like fit. This helps add comfort, support, and responsiveness. The upper is also very breathable to help keep your feet dry. The technology put into the sole of the shoe offers great cushion without sacrificing performance.
Its a lightweight shoe without a ton of outside support, but excellent comfort. Advanced tennis players who play several times per week and move quickly around the court may wear these shoes out quickly, but will love the performance.
Pros and Cons
Padel Shoes And Tennis Shoes Are Not The Same
Can I reuse my running shoes or tennis shoes that I use to rally on the court? Yes, but it is not recommended . Each model is designed for the use it can give it, the movements it will carry out and the needs it has to respond appropriately.
So, as you have seen, choosing paddle tennis shoes for women follows the same patterns as for any paddle tennis player, but with the particularities of the womans foot and game.

Essential Guide To Choosing Paddle Tennis Shoes
In each sport, the choice of good shoes is undoubtedly the key to a pleasant experience and, most importantly, our safety to prevent any injury. Paddle tennis is no exception and in many cases, the wrong choices due to trends, price, or aesthetics, can lead us to buy a product that is not suitable for us.
If you have been practicing paddle for a long time, you probably already have the right shoes for you. But especially if you are a beginner, it is difficult to know which shoes are good and which are not. The particular type of sole will largely determine our mobility and adaptability to the types of surfaces we play on.
Discover everything you need to properly choose the best shoes to play paddle tennis.
The Parts Of A Tennis Shoe
Before we find the right type of shoe, there are several terms related to shoes you should know to fully understand this guide.
- Sole or Outsole the bottom of the shoe. Usually made of rubber.
- Insole the insert that goes inside the shoe under your foot.
- Upper the top part of the shoe that covers the foot. Typically textile & synthetic material.
- Tongue the part of the shoe under the upper that goes over the top of your foot.
- Laces you better know what laces are

New Balance Lav Fresh Foam
The shoe of choice for Milos Raonic and named Lav due to the Candian’s grandfather giving him that nickname when he was a kid.
The Lav is New Balance’s premium tennis shoe and is fairly slick looking with a full bootie design and a knit/stitched upper, which helps with breathability and flexibility.
The key feature of the Lav is comfort, thanks to the fresh foam midsole, which provides a lot of cushioning. Couple that with the bootie construction, and you still get low to the ground feel.
Interestingly the shoes are quite heavy when you drop them on the scales, but once on, they don’ feel too cumbersome. That’s likely due to the foam, which gives you a feeling of light footedness.
The Lav’s sole is a one-piece design that would make you think they’re not flexible like some of the Asics shoes in the midfoot, but they aren’t stiff and offer similar levels of flex.
Despite the weight, the area the shoes disappoint is durability, but like some of the others in this list, New Balance does offer a 6-month outsole warranty that provides some peace of mind.

Ial Or Modified Herringbone Pattern
This last aspect is a bit technical, but I think its worth mentioning.
When I did my research I learned that court shoes tend to have two kinds of tread patterns:
Full Herringbone and Partial Herringbone.
Both tread patterns are ideal for the lateral movement needed for sports like tennis, pickleball and platform tennis.
But partial herringbone is most ideal for platform tennis.
Well, full herringbone court shoe tread patterns are almost exclusively used for clay court tennis.
So, when it comes to platform tennis – outdoor court shoes with a partial herringbone tread pattern are ideal for the outdoor court that youll be playing on.
Quick Tip: Running shoes dont have a tread pattern that is made for lateral movement. Running shoe tread patterns are designed for a forward motion only. Their tread pattern doesnt account for any lateral movement. So, dont use running shoes for ANY racquet sport. Trust me.
Don’t bring running shoes to any court.

Worthy Mention: Saucony Women’s Grid Excursion Tr12 Sneaker
Our last selection for womens pickleball shoes is the Saucony Grid Excursion TR12 sneaker. There is another quality option for outdoor pickleball courts for many of the reasons well discuss in greater detail in our buying guide below.
Unlike the herringbone outsole pattern found on the New Balance pickleball sneakers, the Saucony sneakers feature an interesting triangular lug pattern. We found that this type of outsole was just as capable of providing the necessary traction for concrete or asphalt pickleball courts.
Another great feature of the Grid Excursion womens pickleball shoe is the sole-based cushioning and stability system, which Saucony has dubbed Grid. This grid stability system will certainly give you an edge in your pickleball matches, as it gives you a consistent and reliable sense of balance and control, even when moving laterally in quick back-and-forth bursts.
As for aesthetics, these shoes give you lots of style and color options to choose from. They have something of a throwback look, which we really enjoyed.
Finally, the best part about this shoeas with any shoe from Sauconyis its outstanding, glove-like fit. No matter your foot shape or size, were confident that these excellent shoes will fit you as well or better than any other option.

How Do I Choose A Padel Racket
If you are new to the sport, it is best to choose a racket that is not too heavy. Padel rackets generally weigh between 330 and 385 g. A lighter racket is easier to use and gives you more control of your strokes. If you suffer from tennis elbow, a lighter racket is a good option since it is easier on the elbow.

The Wilson Pro Rush 25
The Pro Rush 2.5 is one of Wilsons signature outdoor court shoes and is one of those shoes that has a following in the tennis community. Meaning, many people have bought and worn many pairs and keep coming back to it.
Which is why weve had so many good versions of this shoe. The 2.5 represents two and half substantial updates from Wilson, improving upon its frame, chassis, and tractions levels.
Editor’s Update: As of March 2020, I also recommend the Rush Pro 3.0. I bought it, wore it, and reviewed it here. It’s lighter than the 2.5, comes with a 6 month outsole warranty and also a great choice for platform tennis.
So, what does the Pro Rush 2.5 offer and why did it make my list of top shoes to consider for platform tennis?
Well for starters, this iteration has greatly improved its overall comfort while still offering the low to the ground feel the Pro Rush series has been known for.
Because of how the outsole and midsole are positioned below the upper, the Pro Rush has an aggressive, learn forward-like stance that makes you feel low to the court and ready to pounce like a cat.
In fact, previous models had even more heal/arch direction where your foot actually was pointed inward and forward for better acceleration.
But thankfully thats been refined and dialed back a little to add stability and more comfort. Wilson has found a good middle ground where your feet still feel like theyre in attack position but, not at the expense of being slightly uncomfortable.

How To Choose The Correct Paddle Tennis Shoes
We often see paddle tennis players wearing running shoes. But, for the vast majority of us, it is very important to wear shoes that are specifically designed for paddle tennis . This is because they are made to give you the support, cushioning and, most importantly, the traction that you need on a paddle tennis court.
There are different types of surfaces on paddle tennis courts. These vary from artificial grass, clay, to solid concrete. However, in recent years it has become more and more common to find runways with a carpet such as artificial grass surface that is lightly covered with sand.
Choose The Right Size
Avoid sore feet and damaged nails by choosing the right size. A padel shoe should not sit too tight, considering all the quick stops and turns. Feel free to buy a half size larger if you are unsure, but ensure that the shoe does not come loose. If you feel that the shoe is a little too big, replace the standard inner sole with a thicker. Today there are many good inner soles to choose from.

What Should You Take Into Account When Choosing Your Tennis Or Paddle Tennis Shoes
Before choosing your ideal tennis or paddle tennis shoe you have to identify what surface you are going to use it on. As you already know, each type of surface needs a type of sole that favors grip and glide, as well as cushioning. Next, we detail what type of sole it is for each surface:
- CLAY or herringbone soles are the shoes used for clay courts and artificial grass courts for both paddle tennis and tennis.
- ALL COURT soles, which are mainly used on greenset courts, cement or any other hard material. Occasionally those with a wide herringbone pattern can be used for clay courts. But remember that they are not recommended for clay courts.
- The OMNI soles, which are soles with small studs and are recommended for tennis on natural grass and for paddle tennis on artificial grass.

Why Is Choosing The Right Shoe So Important
A large number of injuries are caused by a poor choice in our shoes, as we detailed the sole is very important, but just as important will be the cushioning and the materials with which it is made. We always recommend the main brands on the market such as Joma, Adidas, Babolat, Wilson, Asics… They are brands with extensive experience in the world of tennis and have transferred their experience to padel shoes as well. The movements in both sports are similar when it comes to stepping and sliding, most of the movements are lateral displacements, although in paddle tennis the toe and braking are more abused.
It is convenient that we verify that the footwear has anti-torsion systems if possible and reinforcements in the heel and equally important is to choose a good cushioning that will be in charge of discharging the energy of our impacts with the ground helping to our muscles and joints, and avoiding a large number of injuries. Obviously, depending on our budget, we can access more technologically advanced shoes or less, but most of the leading brands have products that are more than solvent and that will provide you with a high degree of satisfaction at all prices.< /p>

Finding The Best Shoes For Platform Tennis Was Not Easy
After a quick internet search, not unlike the one you did to find this article, I was brought to various online retailers not named Amazon showing me different buying options.
These were racquet sport specific online retailers and yet I was being shown tennis shoes, indoor court shoes and even racquetball shoes as buying options. This didnt seem right.
Shouldnt racquet sport sites show me shoes that were designed for specifically for platform tennis? This is a game played, for the most part outdoors in cold weather states like Michigan.
So, why then was I being shown indoor court shoes?
I didnt want to spend over $100 on some random court shoe that wasnt right for platform tennis, only to wear them out in one or two months.
So, thats when I called the American Platform Tennis Association. Yep, the governing body as it relates to the wonderful sport of platform tennis.
Doesnt someone make shoes for platform tennis…designed specifically for platform tennis? The short answer is surprisingly, no. But there are plenty of good shoe options.
After speaking with the APTA, I got some real answers. And finally, I was pointed in the right direction and given real product recommendations for those looking for the best shoes for platform tennis.
And Im going to share what I learned and the products recommended to me – with you.
