Rothy’s The Lace Up Sneaker
Rothy’s first lace-up sneaker is a new favorite when it comes to basic white sneaks. Like all Rothy’s products, they’re made entirely out of recycled materials and are 3D knit to reduce waste during production. They’re also comfortable right out of the box, with no break-in time needed and a cushy padding that hits the back of your ankle, so whether you wear them with or without socks, they won’t cause blisters. Another perk: They can be thrown in the wash, which means the bright white color will stay just that. Plus, the textured look makes them stand out from the other half dozen white sneakers in our closet.
Keds Center Ii Canvas Sneaker
These white canvas sneakers are a classic for a reason. Not only do they have a simple silhouette, they are ridiculously comfortable: The memory foam foot bed makes them super cushiony, there is a padded collar around the ankle, and the shoe itself is flexible and soft throughout. They’re also breathable, which makes them a must-pack for warm weather vacations.
Vans Old Skool Platform Sneaker
Vans is known for making reliable, durable sneakers its owners trust. If you already have a pair of simple white ones, adding a platform option to your closet is an easy way to make a staple piece stand out. They can be dressed down with a pair of straight-leg jeans or dressed up with a dress or slacks to dinner. Even with the platform, these sneakers are comfortable and supportive enough to walk in wherever the day takes you.

Common Projects Bball Leather Sneakers
When it first landed on the scene in 2004, the Common Projects Achilles Low felt revolutionary: a simple, streamlined tennis shoe crafted by hand in Italy from fine Napa leather. In 2022, the luxury sneaker market is flooded with riffs on minimalist low-top sneakersbut CP still does em better than anybody. Our favorite model these days is the BBall, which marries the labels signature no-frills aesthetic and high-quality construction with hallmarks from timeless classics like the Air Force 1 and Stan Smith. Still clean and supple and built to last, but a little less stark and plain than its predecessor.

Apl Womens Techloom Wave
After having my eyes on a pair of APLs for years, I finally pulled the trigger on the Techloom waveand Im SO happy I did. These white slip-on sneakers literally feel like walking on clouds. Theyre hands down the most comfortable pair of sneakers that I own.
They describe the material as high-elastic 3D stretch rebound TechLoomwhich, Im guessing, is a fancy way of saying that the fabric molds to your foot and stretches, without stretching out.
These definitely arent the cheapest pair of white sneakers on the list, but based on my experience so far, they seem worth every penny.
Steve Madden Possession Sneaker
Steve Madden delivers dad style in a big way with these chunky sneakers, which were designed to handle anything you throw at them. A textured outsole provides great traction on slippery gallery floors or cobblestone roads. These shoes run a little small, so the brand recommends going a half size up for the best fit.

Ney Workers Club Dellow Leather Sneaker
A lot of upstart brands try their hands at making retro vulcanized sneakers, but few have as rich a backstory or as distinct a point of view as Stepney Workers Club. Founded in London in 2018, S.W.C. borrows its name from a 1920s anti-fascist sports group, and its signature modelthe Dellowis based directly on an old canvas sneaker the brand’s designers once came across. They updated the simple design and beautiful construction, added their own winsome handshake logo, and then decked the shoe out in a wide range of colors and materials. These days you can find the Dellow in smooth suedes and hardy canvases, but for our money the best version is this white leather version. It’s less than $90 for a sneaker with decades of history and smart design under its belt. That’s how you craft an instant classic, kids.

How We Picked And Tested
To find the finest white sneakers, I scoured forums, social feeds, blogs, customer reviews, sneaker podcasts, and best-seller listings. Limiting the pool to just low-tops, for consistencys sake, I found 79 pairs of shoes in mens, womens, and unisex sizes, in materials ranging from recycled plastic bottles to leather. I reviewed each pairs style, size ranges, retailer availability, third-party reviews, price, and color options other than white . Shoes that didnt measure up to those criteria were cut, leaving us some 22 pairs, which we categorized as fabric, all-leather, and leather-like shoes.
For the initial round of testing, I ordered the shoes in my regular size and followed manufacturer sizing instructions, as needed. I wore each pair of shoes for a few hours and noted the overall quality, fit, and comfort. I dismissed shoes that had a combination of sloppy stitching, cracked leather, poor fit, or were uncomfortable to wear. That left us with eight pairs of shoes for panel testing: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star , Rothy’s The Lace Up, and Superga 2750 Cotu Classic White fabric shoes, and Adidas Stan Smith Shoes, Greats The Royale, Italic Cadence Leather Sneakers, Nike Air Force 1 Low, and Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 all-leather sneakers.

Converse Chuck 70 Sneaker
Looks-wise, the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star has hardly changed at all since it first hit the hardwood in the early 1920s. In terms of construction, though, the no-frills GOAT hit its peak in the ’70s: the canvas upper was weightier, the rubber midsole rode up a little higher, the toe cap was a touch smaller, and the patch on the back of the heel was a cool retro black rather than the standard white. A few years back, Converse decided to make them that way again. For a cool $85, the Chuck 70 gets you all those key design upgrades, plus the benefit of modern cushioning installed into the thicker vintage outsoles. They’re the same Chucks you’ve always loved, only better.
Nike Air Force 1 ’07 Sneaker
All real sneakerheads know that black Air Force 1s are a bad omenif you see someone in them, it means you should turn and run. White Air Force 1s, on the other hand, are a sign of nothing beyond the wearers very fine taste. Since 1982, when they were introduced as Nikes first basketball shoe to feature its revolutionary Air tech, the AF1 has held it down as the Swooshs single most reliable model. Its hardly the flashiest Nike ever released, or the best performing on the court, or the most storiedbut its tasteful, understated, and wholly timeless, three adjectives that dont get thrown around in sneaker circles often enough. Long before Balenciaga made clownishly oversized sneakers a thing, Air Force 1s were chunkier and more bulbous than any of the sneakers that came before them. When doused in all-white, those proportionsalong with the perforations on the toe and the panelling along the sidesfeel all the more statuesque. And while they look incredible fresh out the box, they’re among a rare class of white leather kicks that genuinely still look killer smoked to high hell. Whether you’re on your first pair or your 40th, it’s never really a bad time to pick up another.
