The Under Armour Hovr Rise 2 Are Incredibly Comfortable Have Fool

Pros: Great traction and stability, versatile workout support, easy to slip on and off, attractive colorways, affordable, fits a diverse foot shape

Cons: None

For the Rise 2, Under Armour took its HOVR running shoe cushioning and integrated it with an outsole pattern designed to stop your momentum on side shuffles and back lunges. The cross-training shoes are also designed with an energy return to minimize jumping impact. The result is a super lightweight women’s athletic shoe that keeps you moving through burpees, ladder drills, and box jumps.

The stretch-bootie construction provides a sock-like fit and makes it easy to slip these on and off, but the side and back of the foot are supported with a leather overlay to lock your heel in on side-to-side movements. What’s more, the stretchy material makes these comfortable for all foot shapes, including if you have a wider toe box like me.

As the best cross-training shoes, they’re comfortable enough to run in, stable enough to lightly lift in, and were the only pair of cross-trainers I tested that didn’t slip out whatsoever on the burpee jump back.

These were already my top pick thanks to their performance across the board, so I was very happy to learn that they are also the most affordable on my testing list.

    Important Workout Shoe Criteria

Finding the best shoes for your workout always comes down to fit, according to Dr. Pinker and Dr. Eckles. When shopping, pay attention to all areas of the shoe: outsole, heel, toe box, midsole, width, and length.

Look for a snug width and a length that allows for about 3/8 of an inch between the end of your big toe and the front of the shoe.

There should be adequate cushioning in the midsole, and the toe box should be composed of a material that protects and also allows the exchange of air, Dr. Pinker says. Often midsoles are made from the soft foam ethylene-vinyl acetate , while the top of the toe area uses a mesh-like material.

In the heel region, aim for a snug fitloose-fitting heels can lead to heel blisters. The outsole should have treads designed specifically for your intended activity.

Dr. Eckles recommends buying brands that fit your specific feet. So while you may like the look of a brands running shoes, the line might not include any styles that comfortably fit your wide feet. Although its harder to shop leisurely for shoes during the Covid-19 pandemic, its worth some trial and error to find the brands that produce the best shoes for your feet and workout of choice.

    Vivobarefoot Primus Lite Iii

The debate on the benefits of barefoot shoes is one that has been waging for many years now and it’s not one we’re going to go into depth with here . However, when it comes to training in the gym there are clear positives to having your feet firmly on the ground, from building natural stability to ensuring your feet have maximum flexibility when performing movements.

The Primus Lite III is a minimalist shoe designed to offer as much freedom as possible when it comes to moving around, whilst still ensuring the foot the grip and protection you would get from a conventional shoe, just in a lean 4mm sole. The wide shape also allows your feet to move freely within the shoe without restricting movement, whilst the thin sole means that your feet can feel the ground.

Another important aspect of the shoe is that it’s both vegan and made from recycled post-consumer plastic waste. In addition, when you’ve finished with the Primus Lite III you can send it over to the team at Revivo where the shoe will be reconditioned instead of sent to landfill.

The minimal size and flexible build also make them a great option for travelling, just scrunch or roll them up and stick them into whatever free space you have available in your bag or suitcase.

New Balance Womens Fuelcore Nergize V1

Unlike much of New Balances offerings over the years, this pair of shoes does not lack in either style or the number of colors to pick from, so ladies from all over will be left thrilled with them as a result of that. But to the other stuff, this is a great HIIT shoe because of the extra padding and cushion it brings to you. This all start with the NB Memory Sole insert that they have in there that delivers support and padding. On top of that, the thing that makes these different from so many in this area of the market is that they are not just a flat shoe. Instead, the toe is pointed upwards a bit, helping anyone that has a gait that makes them land on their toes first. Made from nearly all synthetics, they will be both durable and flexible in their use. The bottom of the shoes have excellent traction thanks to a number of areas of grooves, which are placed throughout the shoe. Their REVlite foam helps the midsole be supportive while also allowing you to not feel that extra bulk and weight. However, there are some things to think about. For starters, these shoes are not great for those with flat feet, which makes sense given the upward curvature. They also run narrow, meaning those with wide feet have little room. They also run small, so that has to be kept in mind.

    • Lots of colors to choose from and nice design
    • Memory foam and Revlite foam pad you
    • Very good traction

Why Is Important To Have Different Shoes For Different Types Of Workouts

Reebok HIIT 2 Review | Best Reebok Shoe for HIIT?

Chanel Perkins, DPM, explains to Glamour that the force you exert throughout your feet for plyometric exercises, such as hopping or jumping, is a very different type of force exerted with more isometric exercises such as lunges or squats. This means that wearing the wrong type of shoessay, a running sneaker while weightlifting or strength trainingcould strain the ligaments and muscle tendons in your toes, feet, and ankles. Which ultimately can lead to painful things like heel spurs or plantar fasciitis. No thanks.

These shoes from Inov-8 provide great grip for things like rope climbs and box jumps, thanks to the rubber outsole. Plus, the shoe tongue has a sock-liner-like feel. The shoe is snug yet comfortable, so you could get away without wearing laces.

Can I Run In A Hiit Training Shoe

Yes, you can. However, wed recommend if youre doing a running workout, or running further than around 1km you look into specific running shoes, which are better designed for that purpose, and will make your run more enjoyable, comfortable and less likely to cause an injury. Running long distances in shoes designed with a different purpose in mind, could mean the feet get hotter faster, rub in some areas when the feet expand, and not provide adequate cushioning from the impact of the road. HIIT training shoes may lack the cushioning and outsole durability of a running shoe. As they are designed generally for indoor wear they may also lack traction and outsole grip so may be slippy.

What I Don’t Recommend As Cross

Hoka Tivra : In true Hoka fashion, these shoes are great for running and walking but, even though they’re specifically designed for jumping and cutting, they tested the worst of the 9 cross-trainers â I couldn’t do a single burpee without my feet sliding out from under me.

Altra Solstice XT : Altras, overall, are designed with a more minimal mid-sole and roomier toe box so your toes can spread out naturally and provide more stability and power. If you love a minimalist shoe and will be running a lot in your HIIT workouts, this shoe could work for you. But in my experience, the roomier toe box leaves a bit of material in front of the toe that feels awkward when you’re in a pushup or plank. What’s more, the traction under the ball of the foot isn’t very grippy and my feet slid with every burpee jump back.

    Reebok Mens Crossfit Nano 80

Coming in an assortment of awesome looking colors, the Nano is a great option if you want to look great and feel great while doing HIIT. Built with Kevlar material the resulting product is able to be both durable and very resistant while remaining light all at the same time. Due to this, it is much more flexible than the previous model, the 7.0, meaning it is an improvement over that.

Along with the Kevlar used it is also flexible due to the Flexweave they have used in the footbed. The socklike feel that it gives to you not only improves your comfort but it also helps to better your performance by making you more secure. The sole of the shoe is exceptional, with a lot to be said about it. Its made in such a way that you can easily grip ropes to climb with the rubber soles, so to say it has great traction would be an understatement of it. The toe area is guarded heavily, using its Toe Tection, making it both durable and supportive so that you dont hurt yourself during planks or anything of the sort.

The Nanos biggest point of contention will always be its cost, which is pretty high for a shoe, especially in the HIIT arena. They do tear at the sides after a while, so that is something to have to consider when buying them. Also, some dont like how soft and spongy the sole feels in the newer model, which they see making their ankles take more pressure.

    • Quite a high price to pay
    • Squishy sole makes ankles work
    • Can tear on the sides after a while

When Should I Replace My Hiit Shoes

Just like running shoes, HIIT shoes start to lose their usefulness after a while. One of the best things to go by, even though it is HIIT, is by the miles you have used them for. A good session of HIIT can see you rack up a mile or two or even more, depending on the type of exercises. All of that in a small area, too. Keeping track of that can be done with a smart watch or Fitbit. 300 to 500 miles is the recommended term of use for running shoes, though some might last longer and some might last shorter than that.

The best ways are to look for wear and tear. If you notice that there are visible creases starting to form on the outsides of the shoes or that the rubber is coming off the sole, then you should most likely also be preparing to replace your current shoes. Another sign that your shoes are ready to be put out to pasture is if they dont feel like they used to.

If you are used to never getting any pains wearing them and suddenly are having foot pains or problems in the ankles or heels, then it just means they have worn out and are not what they used to be. Replacing them will prevent you from getting chronic foot problems, which can take place if you continue to heap pressure upon them.

Running Shoes Are Not Recommended For Hiit

Running shoes usually have a drop of 8 millimeters or more in addition to a great deal of foam cushioning, which makes them perfect for running, but not ideal for HIIT training.

Additionally, running shoes are only effective for going forward, and not side to side or backward.

Running is a linear activity, but HIIT training is very different, Reeboks senior product manager for training footwear Kristen Rudenauer told Shape. Movements such as side shuffles, pivots, jumping jacks, cutting between cones, ladder work, planks and push-upsyou need support from front to back.

Running shoes might be fine for a trial HIIT class, but if you plan to continue to do HIIT workouts frequently, it is a good idea to invest in shoes that are made specifically for high-intensity interval training.
